Ms Rehana, the English teacher, is talking to the class about food. “Food is very important for our body,” she says. “We can’t live without it, so you must always have good food.”
“What’s good food, teacher?” asks a student.

“Good food means the right kind of food for good health,” says Ms Rehana. “It is nutritious. It must contain natural substances that our body needs to grow properly and stay healthy. But remember, you must not eat too much even if the food is good. Eating too much is bad for health. You have to eat only a certain amount of food that your body needs. So we do not need the same kind of food in the same quantity. It depends on your growth and physical structure.”

Lesson : 2 | Kinds of Food

 

Food is a very essential thing in our life. Without food, we cannot live.
For our body, we need food. There are six kinds of food. They are carbohydrate, protein, vitamin, minerals, fat and water. Carbohydrate helps us to be energetic. Rice, wheat, sugar, potato etc. are this kind of food.

Different Types of Food
Vitamin is an important food. Without it, we cannot be fit. There are many kinds of vitamins. They are vitamin ‘A’ vitamin ‘B’ complex, vitamin ‘C’, vitamin ‘D’, vitamin ‘E’ and vitamin ‘K’. Mineral is essential for our bone and teeth. It helps to build red blood cells of the body. Butter, ghee, different kinds of oils are the sources of fat.
We get energy from fat. People may be attacked with skin disease without the required amount of fat. Excesive fat may be dangerous. It may cause heart disease. Water helps to digest the food. If we drink less water, we will face a problem of constipation. We should drink 6-7 glasses of water everyday. But this water must be pure.
